On this day 215 years ago, Alexander Hamilton succumbed to his injury sustained in the duel with Aaron Burr. At the time it was thought that he was 47 years old, but documents have since been discovered that show he had shaved two years off his age and he was actually 49. Hamilton and I happened to be born on the same day 215 years apart so if I can make it through the night, I will have surpassed his time on earth. Fingers crossed.

Yesterday a friend and I hiked to the top of Coyote Ridge and were treated to a spectacle. Burrowing owls have taken over a section of prairie dog town and they are quite entertaining. There was a group of large camera, large lens folks whom I took to be our Audubon Society contingent and I’m sure their photos are wonderful. Mine are not.🦉#burrowingowl

The Colorado summer storms are back. For the first few years that we lived here we would get an afternoon thunder storm almost every day in the summer. Then they disappeared for a few years and I’m happy that they are back this year. Although I am terrified of the associated hail. I’ll take a good ol’ California earthquake any day over hail. Oh and the tornados. I’m not a fan of those either. #summerstorms

Happy Mother’s Day, friends! Sending love to those of you who, like me, have only memories of our moms. My mom was a west coast, So Cal girl her whole life, but she was an east coast girl at heart. She loved seasons and especially fall colors. Last week I found this park on Long Island. I sat in this spot for quite awhile looking at Connecticut way up there in the distance and thinking about her and how lucky I was to have had her while I did. “You’re only dancing on this earth for a short while...And though you want them to last forever, you know they never will.” #amothersloveneverdies
